F/O Sweanor came to 419 Squadron as the Bomb Aimer for the F/O Porter crew on Sept.30th 1942.
On the night of March 27th while on an operation to Berlin, his aircraft Halifax DT634 was brought down
with the loss of the Pilot F/O Charles Porter. F/O Sweanor and the other five members of the crew became POWs
F/O Sweanor would spend 800 days as a POW before being repatriated.
George Sweanor continued on with the RCAF for another 25 years including a period working with
NORAD HQ at Colorado Springs. He continued his post war career while living in Colorado Springs.
